Like the RPK that preceded it, the RPK-74 has an integral folding bi-pod. This bi-pod was made very large to allow the weapon's 45-round magazine to be used. It is very unwieldy when employed in combat situations. These photos show the bi-pod in both the folded and extended positions. The bottom right picture shows a close-up of the cleaning rod and the bi-pod attachment point. The weapon cannot mount a bayonet. |

The bolt of the RPK-74 closely resembles the rest of the Kalashnikov
family. The primary difference is that the pistol has been
lengthened to accommodate the longer barrel. The bottom left
picture shows the bolt, spring, and receiver cover, while the other
picture shows a close up of the bolt face. | |

In this picture you can see the ammunition pouch for the RPK-74. It contains four of the 45-round magazines. The cleaning kit capsule can also be seen, as can a 45-round magazine. The 5.45mm round is shown for scale. It should also be mentioned that the RPK-74 can also use the 30-round magazines of the AK-74. |
