This section will try to give the reader a glimpse of what life was like in the early years following the revolution as the Soviets struggled to restore the functions of government to the people.

Silver Coins of 1924

Here you can see both sides of a  twenty kopek coin that was minted in 1924.  Like all coins minted that year it has a strong workers and peasants theme.

The front show two workers and the rising sun above the date of minting.

The opposite side features the state seal above the words one ruble.  Surrounding this is still more writing.

Its front shows a detailed scene of a blacksmith working.  Below this is the date of minting.

Silver Coins of 1922 and 1923

Here you can see both sides of a  fifty kopek coin that was minted in 1922.  As of this time the Soviets followed traditional styles, and have not yet adapted to the artistic themes that they would later turn to.

The front shows a simple red star with the number '50' in the middle.  Above the star is the denomination and below it is the date of minting.  These are surrounded by traditional laurels.

The reverse shows the state seal above a scroll with the letters 'CCCP'.  These are all surrounded by writing.
